A draft tube liquid air lock is a well proven method of maintaining anaerobic conditions in small-scale mechanically mixed reactors. One minor disadvantage is that back pressure will force liquid up the draft tube, but this is more than compensated for by the simplicity of design, with no ‘gas tight’ bearing to fail.
The catch pot mounted on the reactor lid will allow this reactor to be used with our gas scrubbers and low-flow gas meter while maintaining a reactor working volume of 600 mL.
A unique feature of our reactor is the double ‘o’ ring seal on the lid. In engineering terms this is a highly reliable method of sealing a vessel and our reactors have been shown to remain ‘leak proof’ over long periods
Up to 8 reactors can be maintained at a constant temperature in our low-maintenance water bath (hyperlink to Waterbaths) which provides a fused DC socket for each reactor, simplifying cable management and improving safety
